FAQ

ABOUT MY PRACTICE

What is your specialty?

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and EMDR-certified therapist offering high-quality, personalized care for anxiety, trauma, and neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism. My practice is designed for individuals seeking a thoughtful, depth-oriented approach to healing—one that honors both clinical excellence and your unique lived experience.

In addition to therapy, I also offer specialized Life Coaching, Career Coaching, and Parent Coaching.

What is an LPCC?

An LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) is a licensed mental health professional trained to help individuals work through emotional, psychological, and relational challenges using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

What is EMDR therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a leading, evidence-based approach for trauma therapy and anxiety treatment. It works by helping the brain reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming or intrusive. EMDR therapy can support lasting relief, often more efficiently than traditional talk therapy alone.

How can EMDR help with anxiety and trauma?

Many experiences of anxiety are rooted in unprocessed or overwhelming life events. EMDR therapy targets these underlying patterns, allowing your nervous system to shift out of survival mode. Clients often experience reduced reactivity, greater emotional clarity, and a renewed sense of internal stability.

Do you offer therapy for ADHD and autism?

Yes. I specialize in neurodivergent-affirming therapy for adults with ADHD and autism. This work integrates executive functioning support, emotional regulation, and identity exploration—without pathologizing neurodivergence. Therapy is tailored to how you think, process, and engage with the world.

What is neurodivergent-affirming therapy?

Neurodivergent-affirming therapy recognizes ADHD and autism as natural variations in human cognition. Rather than focusing on “correction,” this approach emphasizes self-understanding, sustainable coping strategies, and reducing the impact of burnout, masking, and chronic overwhelm.

How do you tailor therapy for neurodivergent clients?

Therapy is adapted to support different cognitive styles, sensory needs, and communication preferences. This may include flexible structure, pacing adjustments, and collaborative strategies that support focus, regulation, and clarity—particularly for clients seeking ADHD therapy or autism support.

What is the first session like?

The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. We’ll discuss your goals, history, and what brings you to therapy. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and see if we’re a good fit.

Do I need to talk in detail about my trauma?

No. EMDR therapy does not require you to verbalize every detail of your experience. The process is designed to be contained, respectful of your pace, and grounded in a sense of safety.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is very important. Everything discussed in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or as required by law).

How do I get started?

You’re welcome to reach out through this form to schedule a consultation or first appointment. From there, we’ll identify next steps and design a therapy experience that feels both supportive and effective.

How long are sessions?

Standard sessions are 50 minutes. I also offer 90 minute sessions.

Please note: Session times are not exact. They can be a couple of minutes more or less than outlined above. I will use therapeutic discretion to guide a given session's length.

How often will we meet?

Most clients start with weekly sessions, though frequency can be adjusted based on your needs and goals.

BILLING

Do you accept insurance?

No, I do not accept insurance. I operate as a private-pay practice.

Why don’t you accept insurance?

Choosing not to work with insurance allows for greater privacy, flexibility, and individualized care. Insurance companies often require a mental health diagnosis and may limit the type or length of treatment. Private pay allows us to focus fully on your needs without those restrictions.

Can I get reimbursed by my insurance?

Possibly. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you may submit to your insurance provider for partial reimbursement. I recommend contacting your insurance company directly to understand your coverage.

What are your fees?

  • $175–$200 per 50 minute session.

  • $280 per 90 minute session.

Payment is due at the time of service.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers need to give patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, and all forms of major credit and debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, etc.

Do you offer sliding scale fees?

Please inquire to discuss current availability.  These options are limited.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you will be charged a $100 fee.

If you consistently miss your sessions, this will greatly affect the efficiency of treatment. Ability to move forward with services with me will be re-evaluated and/or referred out to another provider.
